What is a Zero-Carbon footprint?

Being carbon neutral, or having a zero carbon footprint, refers to achieving net zero carbon emissions by balancing a measured amount of carbon released with an equivalent amount sequestered or offset.

In regular speech, this means that in order to be carbon neutral you must measure your carbon output (your car, your electricity, your air travel, etc), and then find ways to reduce that carbon footprint through conservation, recycling, and participating in CO2 reducing activities (like planting trees).. After becoming more conscious of your consumption and actively practicing energy conservation in your everyday life, you can then offset the remainder of your footprint through contributing to organizations committed to protecting the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
